The United Nations estimates 60 million children and infants have been abandoned by their families and live on their own or in orphanages in the world. In the United States, more than 7,000 children are abandoned each year. The abandonment of children is an extreme form of child neglect stemming from many causes.
Sarah Koeppen is a child advocate, founder of the Hope Box, and author of “Called to Hope: The Story of Sarah Koeppen.” Koeppen joins the podcast to discuss her latest book and why she wants to destigmatize the shame surrounding putting children up for adoption.
