An estimated 70 percent of adults in the United States have experienced a traumatic event at least once in their lives and up to 20 percent of these people go on to develop posttraumatic stress disorder or PTSD.
That’s According to the Sidran Institute, a non-profit organization that helps people understand, recover from, and treat Post-Traumatic Stress and other mental health disorders.

On February 14, 2018, Valentine's Day, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in South Florida was the scene of the deadliest school shooting in US history.
The day began like any normal day for student Maddie King who remembers exchanging Valentines with friends with plans of a Valentine's Day dinner with her boyfriend after school that evening. But what was an exciting day turned into a day of terror after a gunman, a former MSD HS student began shooting indiscriminately at students and teachers, killing 17 people.
That was three years ago and although Maddie gets the mental health care she needs, she still gets triggers from what some consider joyous Valentine's decorations.
In this episode, Maddie walks us through Valentine's Day three years ago and how she is coping with the triggers from the shooting years later.
